Useful Paranormal Tracking Equipment - (not all are listed)

(in alphabetical order)

Air Ion Counter

This device measures positive and negative ions in the air. Ghosts can cause a lot of positive ions because they give off high amounts of electromagnetic discharges.

Bags

These should be special plastic ones with zips, (or as well call them, ziploc bags) used to hold any material evidence that is found.

Barometer

Paranormal activity can affect barometric pressure.

Batteries

It's always a good idea to have extra batteries on hand for all equipments being used.

Candles and Matches

These are essential items especially if your flashlight and equipment stop working. (and the extra batteries have been drained too). Its been a common occurance to ghost hunters, that the ghostly/paranormal energy can drain equipment energy - and things will shut off. Candles should be taken as a back up.

Camera

Digital and mm camera's are very important in any investigation.

Compass

A compass is great for navigation BUT it is also great for picking up electromagnetic forces. A compass will react to any magnetic or electrical stimulus that may be out of the ordinary.

Digital Recorder

These are very useful in paranormal investigations, and is an item of choice for obtaining electronic voice phenomenon results.

Dowsing Rods

Some ghost hunters believe that the use of dowsing rods can help to pick up the location of ghosts.

Flash Lights

Always have bright flash lights if going into somewhere dark, or if out at night. (don't forget the extra batteries!)

First Aid Kit

Better safe... than sorry. :)

Headset Communications

When in a group of three or more people, headsets are useful for staying in contact. Headset communicators, (unlike the walkie talkie) allows you to have your hands free to use other equipment such as cameras, EMF readers, etc.. while still being able to keep in contact, if seperated.

Hydrometer

Picks up any changes in air humidity.

Infrared Thermal Scanner

Accurately pin point cold spots, and saves time and infrared film. Great for outside investigations.

Microphone

Essential for picking up electronic voice phenomena. (EVP's)

Mobile Phone

These are useful in case of an emergency However, they can be affected by the presence of strange activity or if out of range.

Motion Detectors

These are good for sensing movement when there should be none. Left in empty rooms, or hallways - where no one is present, is a good idea. If they go off... you know 'something' caused it.

Night Vision Equipment

Night Vision equipment can be very useful. However Night Vision Equipment can be expensive. Binocular night vision items are a good choice because they add the benefit of depth perception as well.

Night Vision Video Camera

Allows the recording of light not normally visible to the naked eye, or that a regular one would not pick up.

Notebook

Always keep records of the time and event, - and your thoughts and findings during the investigation. It's much easier to look back at your notes, than it is to try to remember it all a day later. Pens and pencils are also important.

Spot Lights

Battery powered spot lights help at night when setting up and taking down cameras and other equipment. They can also be used for safety and to get a better view of the surrounding terrain at night when needed.

Tape Recorder

A phenomenon called EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) is where spirit voices have been known to appear on tape, if a tape recorder is recording. Ensure you use brand new tapes every time when recording - so as not to get 'old' sounds into the new recording.

Thermometer

A good thermometer can detect changes in room temperature quickly and where electromagnetic forces have been discovered.

Video Camera

Allows events to be captured as they are happening. May or may not pick up paranormal occurances.

Walkie-Talkies

For keeping in contact, should you not have headsets.

Watch

Time the events, locations, and paranormal happenings.
